Ingredients

  • ( 500 grams) Lean beef mince
  • ( 1 medium) Brown onion, raw and peeled
  • ( 2 cloves) Raw garlic, peeled
  • ( 1/4 bunch) Fresh mint
  • ( 1/4 bunch) Fresh parsley
  • ( 4 tbsp) Olive oil
  • ( 1 1/2 cup) Cos lettuce
  • ( 2 medium) Tomato
  • ( 1 medium) Peeled cucumber
  • ( 1/3 cup) Lemon juice
  • ( 1/2 tsp) Cooking salt
  • ( 1/2 tsp) Ground black pepper

Method

  1. Crush the garlic and chop the mint into small pieces.
  2. In a mixing bowl, mix the mince, garlic, mint, and parsley. Stir to combine. Season with salt — this will help to bind the meatballs.
  3. Roll the mince into 3cm balls.
  4. In a pan, add the oil. Fry the mince balls until cooked through, being sure to brown all sides. This will take about 10 minutes.
  5. For the salad, cut the tomatoes and cucumber into large cubes, and chop the lettuce. Dress with lemon juice and serve with the meatballs.
